Reaching sundarban national park is easy, but one has to travel at least two modes of transport to get to sundarban. All the three modes of transport (rail, road and air) have an extensive network.
National highway 34 connects Kolkata-the state capital. One can easily reach the nearby destinations around sundarban. State and private transport facilities are available from Kolkata. Places like Namkhana (105 kms), Sonakhali (100 kms), Raidighi (76 kms), Canning (64 kms), and Najat (92 kms) are all around the sundarbans and then one has to take a boat ride to reach sundarban. |

| The nearest railway station is at Canning, 48 kms away. Dum Dum international airport is the main and only international airport. As a combination of transport modes have to be used for reaching sundarban, it is highly advisable to plan the visit in advance and special attention needs to be given to the traveling part. Once having reached sundarban national park, the best way to explore the wildlife is to hire a guide or take a group tour.The best season for visiting sundarban national park is between September and March. |
